For the exhibition’s final display we propose some thoughts on the kitchen, the most popular and beloved environment of the home. La concept kitchen Not for food (2006) is a multi-sensory and multi-functional container, a revolutionary way of interpreting this area of the home with innovative materials and modern technology, designed to meet the future needs of daily life. This integrated furniture system is inspired by the concept of open space and is particularly suited to environments without partitions. In addition to the functional kitchen part, Not for food turns into an area where to transfer the office or study, but also where to meet and chat, relax, with a massage on the couch, listening to music or watching a film. The system is made of advanced composite materials especially carbon fiber. The choice of colors is strict, glossy white for the sofa seat and matte black for everything else. Accessories are stained black glass. Reality and metaphor of Italian innovation spreading through the world, the idea of Not for food came while flying between Italy and China, with which designer Enzo Eusebi and NOTHING STUDIO team divide their professional activity.

Duemila60 si presenta come un monoblocco riprendendo le caratteristiche dei modelli delle cucine tipiche degli anni Sessanta, come suggerisce anche nel nome. Il materiale scelto per realizzarla è la vetroresina, leggero ma con ottima resistenza meccanica, capace di ottenere forme plastiche ma solide. Il pensile ad anta unica, invece, riprende l’idea della cucina intesa come dispensa.

“NOT for food” – progettata dall’architettoEnzo Eusebi, dello studio Nothing, con la collaborazione di Yuri Consorti e Fabio Varese – non è solo una cucina. è un contenitore di funzioni progettato per ripensare le possibilità formali e programmatiche legate all’uso dell’intero spazio abitativo nell’arco delle 24 ore, per un modello di famiglia contemporanea.

Simone Vella Lenicker met with italian architect Enzo Eusebi, who was in Malta putting the finishing touches on this first local project.

L’undicesimo Piano Quinquennale cinese (2006-2010) ha posto l’efficienza energetica, la sostenibilità e l’ecologia al centro dello sviluppo del Paese. Gli studi di architettura e le società del settore della costruzione sono stati invitati a discuterne a Beijing alla Terza Biennale Architettura, che si è tenuta in novembre dell’anno scorso al Design-Park 751. Tema, “Ecological City / Building”, un argomento scelto per mettere in evidenza le relazioni tra la pianificazione delle aree urbane, il tratto architettonico e i sistemi per costruire le nuove città della Cina in armonia con i principi ecologici. Protagonista in uno spazio dedicato all’Italia, con i suoi progetti e i suoi architetti. Non tanto le cosiddette “archiatra”, quanto i molti architetti che da tempo lavorano e operano fattivamente all’estero e in particolare su tutto il territorio cinese.

‘Planning and building for the earth wellbeing’ is the theme of the second edition of the exhibition ‘Architecture Lab’ held in Hall 1 of FieraMilano during Made Expo 2009.
